Very little configuration is needed to begin using ArchVision Dashboard. Simply run the installer, login and it is ready to use. This document will take you on a tour of the ArchVision Dashboard and it's functions.
The first time that ArchVision Dashboard is run users are prompted to login. Signing in connects a user to their ArchVision.com or VisMasters.com account. A new account can be created by clicking on Signup. Signing in will activate the ArchVision Dashboard. This step is only necessary once and will be stored for future usage. The stored information can be changed by clicking on Preferences at the top of Dashboard.
When logged in, the username is displayed at the top of the screen and the Login button will then display Sign Out.
To search and download content simply click on the RPC Channel button. To perform a search, click in the search field and enter a search string describing the content. The Previous and Next buttons scroll through multiple pages of returned search results. Search results are displayed as thumbnails on the screen. Different viewing methods are available. These include Detailed, Thumbnails or as a List. Enable the viewing method by clicking on the matching button at the top of the search results. The Download destination is shown below the search menu. This path is changed via the Download tab of the ACM.
The search results are populated with content images and names that include a Details button and a Download button. Choosing Download will send the item to the download directory specified on the Downloads tab of the ACM. The ArchVision Content Manager (ACM) is included with the ArchVision Dahsboard install.
Quick Links allow users to tailor the search to more specifically meet their needs. By clicking one of the Quick Link options the search results are filtered. For details on each Quick Link, please see below.
ArchVision Dashboard simplifies how plug-ins are downloaded and installed. Simply click on the Plug-ins button, choose the desired applications and the matching plug-ins are automatically downloaded and installed when the user clicks on Continue and Install. If multiple applications are selected each plug-in will download and install in sequence.
The Dashboard is the launch point for using RPC content. Click on Buy to purchase an RPC All Access license right inside Dashboard without leaving the application. Currently the two RPC All Access plans offered are Standard and Ultimate. Click on the buy button next to a plan to purchase this. This will add the product directly to an ArchVision.com shopping cart. Click on Continue to Checkout and proceed with the onscreen instructions to make the purchase. A license will be sent to the ACM specified during the order process in just a few minutes. To retrieve the license simply open the ACM and click on direct connect then import.
The following documentation will explain each of the ArchVision Dashboard buttons in greater detail.
Sign-in Dialog
Click this button to sign in or out of an ArchVision.com or VisMasters.com. Once a successful sign in attempt has been made, Dashboard will open using this account in the future. This can be changed by Signing out and logging in with a different profile. Login settings are displayed under the Preferences dialog.
Welcome Message
This dialog shows the account name for the logged in ArchVision.com or VisMasters.com user.
Preferences
This dialog includes options for changing login information and specifying which ACM that Dashboard will generate download queues for.
RPC Channel Dialog
Selecting this option sets Dashboard into the RPC Channel mode to search for content to download. Content is downloaded to the selected ACM by clicking on Download.
RPC Plug-ins Dialog
Clicking this button changes Dashboard into the plug-in download mode. Here plug-ins for various applications can be downloaded and installed at the click of a button.
License Time Remaining
This shows the status of the active license and shows how many days remaing for usage.
Buy Dialog
Clicking this button changes Dashboard into the Buy Mode. Here annual licenses can be purchased for RPC All Access. The purchase is made entirely from the ArchVision Dashboard.
Search Field
Users enter search strings to retrieve results for matching content.
Search Button
The search button initiates the search.
Search FiltersThe Quicklinks allow users to selct and apply filters for search results. Users can view content in collections, textures only, content in the Standard Subscription, or most recently added by choosing one of these.
Search View Settings
Users can choose to view the search results as thumbnails, a list or detailed descriptions.
Details of Download
Details for the selected piece of content including filename, filesize and date it was added to the Exchange, ArchVision's searchable database of content.
Download Button This initiates the download queue being sent to an ACM. If the ACM is on the local computer it will begin in a few seconds. If the ACM is on a different computer it will begin when an import is performed.
Download Destination
This shows the path of the ACM that the content is being downloaded to. This location is changed via the Download tab of the ACM.
Sort Options
Search results can be sorted by Relevance, Submission Date, Number of Downloads or Title.
The following error messages may appear when using ArchVision Dashboard. These can usually be resolved by making the recommended modifications to Internet Security, Firewall or Proxy settings.
